It’s time to think about ‘Happy Farms’

(Chinhphu.vn) – At the online conference on implementing and mastering Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW dated June 16, 2022 of the 13th Party Central Committee on agriculture, farmers and rural areas in the period By 2030, vision 2045 organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on September 8, the story of Minister Le Minh Hoan was noticed when talking about agricultural products in black lacquer boxes. According to the Minister: “In which there are many important documents, including Resolution 19 and the Prime Minister’s Decision on the Strategy for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development”.

The policy content mentioned by Minister Le Minh Hoan is Resolution No. 19 dated June 16, 2022 of the 13th Party Central Committee on agriculture, farmers and rural areas in the period to 2030, with a vision. to 2045 and Decision No. 150/QD-TTg dated January 18, 2021 on approving the Strategy for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

Shift from thinking about agricultural production to thinking about agricultural economy; Multi-value integration in agricultural products lies here. This is very simple, nothing complicated”. “Happy Farming” is made by professional farmers. Minister Le Minh Hoan shared a fact: Our country’s agriculture lacks information and data to operate, farmers lack information about the market, the market lacks the origin and origin of agricultural products. assets, sometimes management agencies also lack information about supply – demand.

Not only that, Vietnam’s agriculture is also a trade-off agriculture. For a long time, we only think about how much we can sell, how much money we can make, how much profit the farmer makes without counting input costs. For a long time, focusing only on improving productivity, we trade off the ecological environment, community, and farmers’ health, which are affected by improper production processes.

That had long-lasting consequences due to an unprofessional and spontaneous agriculture. Therefore, it is necessary to build and create a professional agriculture. But to have that, there must be professional farmers, if you want to be professional farmers, you must educate the farmers.

That is, farmers cannot follow experience forever, cannot always “look at the sky, look at the earth, look at the clouds; look at the rain, look at the sun, look at the day, look at the night”. In the context of climate change, market fluctuations, and fierce competition, amateur production will not guarantee sustainable competition, if any, it will only win in a few seasons.

“If the beginning is up and down, the tail will come out”, farmers are the first link in the chain of goods, so it is necessary to support farmers to standardize products to sell to the market to get a good price.

To do these things, farmers must be equipped with skills, have a spirit of cooperation with the community, know how to rely on the strength of the community, not go up alone, join together in the farmer’s community, They can start from guilds, branches, groups, and professional associations to share and guide each other on how to do business. From there, the intellectualization story took shape. For example, at Dong Thap Assembly Hall, now farmers have absorbed the saying: If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.

Professional farmers, first of all, are conscientious people who think about the health of others.

According to Minister Le Minh Hoan, professional farmers must know how to produce the products the market needs, not produce according to their own will; know how to produce in the most economical way, for the most reasonable price, while still ensuring quality. A professional farmer is first of all a person who has a heart, thinks about the health of others, does not hurt the common interests of the community, is a person who has knowledge and acts for a sustainable agriculture for today. now and for future generations.

Professional farmers are also knowledgeable people, have both knowledge and production skills, and economic thinking, understand the power of the spirit of cooperation, voluntarily participate in collective economic organizations.

Back to how to educate farmers. The commander of the agricultural sector shared his view: “This is not something sublime, nor does it mean putting farmers in schools. Of course, there are also short courses to help farmers supplement their knowledge and skills. capacity, a little bit every day to optimize labor productivity, especially in the context of the 4th industrial revolution. Professionalization can start with farmers keeping a production diary, whatever they do. Write it down so that when businesses come to you or when introducing products, they will introduce with a copy of the criteria and processes we have done; can start from using fertilizers and pesticides properly; know production on market demand…”

Experiencing the development path of agriculture and future generations of farmers, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development said that, for many years in a row, when talking about agriculture, it means hardship and hardship, the consequences are now there is a tendency for farmers’ children to move away from agriculture. If you do not cherish farmers and attach importance to agricultural production, in the future there will be social problems, creating a disruption of the social flow.

“Therefore, it’s time for farmers to change their production thinking, to make products that are safe, responsible and when it comes to feeling proud. The task of the functional sector, the unions is to must persevere with farmers to reshape agriculture”, Minister Le Minh Hoan emphasized.
